The Artist Behind the Craft

Art has always been in my blood. Growing up in the Chicago area, I was surrounded by creativity—a sculptor mother, a jewelry-making dentist father, and a sister who explored pottery. As a child, I spent countless hours doodling intricate patterns, unknowingly pioneering my own path into what we now recognize as Zentangle. Those early sketches would eventually become the foundation of my signature designs.

A Journey Through Metal and Fire

My love affair with jewelry-making began in the 1980s with beaded pieces, but everything changed in 2003 when I discovered precious metal clay. This enchanting medium allowed me to infuse my hand-drawn designs into wearable art, transforming each piece into a unique expression of my artistic vision.

In 2019, I embarked on a self-taught journey into traditional metalsmithing, seamlessly integrating these time-honored techniques with my precious metal clay work. Today, I describe myself as a jewelry artist and my focus remains on form and texture, predominantly working with Argentium Silver.  At time, I use enameling to add vibrant color to select pieces.  I will also be taking my journey into fused glass and I hope to be able to incoporate some unique glass pieces into my work.

My artistic mantra, "Get Your Unique On," encapsulates everything I create. The constant challenge to design something distinct and unparalleled fuels my daily work in the studio. My never-ending quest to explore new techniques ensures that my body of work remains dynamic and ever-evolving.

Crafted with Intention

Every piece from Designs By Suzyn is completely hand-fabricated in my in-home studio, where I've been creating wearable art since 2008. After building a loyal following on Etsy from 2008 to 2019 selling over 1,500 pieces I moved to my own website to offer a more personal, curated experience.  Over the years, I have proudly created and sold over 2,000 pieces of art jewelry.

I'm committed to ethical practices: all stones are ethically sourced, and I use recycled metals whenever possible. Each piece is crafted with care, intention, and a dedication to sustainability.
