About Me
ABOUT ME:
Born and raised in the Chicago area, my creative journey was deeply influenced by my family’s passion for art, with a sculptor mother, a jewelry-making dentist father, and a sister who experimented with pottery. My artistic roots trace back to my childhood, where I spent hours doodling intricate patterns, unknowingly pioneering my own way into what we now recognize as Zentangle.
My discovery of jewelry-making began in the 1980s and initially involved crafting beaded pieces, but it was in 2003 that I discovered the enchanting world of precious metal clay. Intrigued by the medium, I began infusing my work with hand-drawn designs, developing the skill to transform each piece into a unique expression of my artistic vision.
In 2019, I embarked on a self-taught journey into traditional metalsmithing, seamlessly integrating it into my precious metal clay creations. I describe myself as a “jewelry artist”, my focus remains on form and texture, predominantly utilizing Argentium Silver for my designs. On occasion, I add mixed metals, incorporating Nu-Gold (bronze) and copper, embracing the warmth of these base metals. Enameling is also a technique that I dabble in on occasion to add color to my pieces.
My never-ending quest to explore new techniques and skills ensures that my body of work remains dynamic and fluid. My artistic mantra, “Get your unique on”, encapsulates the spirit of my creations. The constant challenge to create something distinct and unparalleled is what fuels my daily artistic pursuits.
